Internship Opportunities in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

About us:

We invite students to join our research group specializing in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Our group focuses on a wide range of fluid dynamic modeling tasks and computational investigations, we have developed and actively maintain the open-source software package flameFoam (available on GitHub at github.com/flameFoam), designed for simulating hydrogen combustion and explosions, and apply artificial intelligence methods.

 Internship overview:

Participants will have the opportunity to work closely with our research team, gaining hands-on experience in CFD and OpenFOAM software, a powerful tool for conducting numerical simulations. The internships are designed to foster skill development in these areas.

 Internship topics:

A wide range of fluid dynamics modeling tasks and numerical research topics are available for the participants to choose from in consultation with the internship supervisor, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Modeling of various laminar and turbulent flows
  • Investigation of fluid flow structures, vortex dynamics, and turbulent phenomena
  • Modeling of hydrogen combustion experiments
  • Investigations of combustion and explosion processes
  • Exploring the interaction between flames and turbulence
  • Contribution to the development and validation of flameFoam combustion library
  • Study fluid dynamics within biotechnological devices
  • Application of artificial intelligence techniques in fluid dynamics

Additional information:

Applicants are encouraged to reach out to the internship supervisor, M. Povilaitis (mantas.povilaitis@lei.lt), for more details on the opportunities available and to discuss individual project preferences. The possibility of extending the internship or exploring research topics for a final thesis within our group can be considered.

We welcome enthusiastic and motivated students from diverse academic backgrounds to apply and look forward to you joining our research team.
