An internship is a great opportunity for a company to find young talents who can become prospective future employees.
The students of Kaunas University of Technology study in 11 study fields; therefore, you can propose the internship places in various areas of the company’s activities: various engineers, technologists, specialists of informatics and mathematics, students of social sciences, humanities, arts, business and public management. An internship is an important part of studies; it helps the students understand their future professional activities and successfully prepare for them. Your proposed internship places and active involvement in the internship process is a very important part of professional training; therefore, we expect the following:
- The nature of the proposed internship places complies with the objectives and tasks of the internship programme included in the trainee’s study programme;
- You have experienced employees who can supervise an internship;
- You have a proper material basis;
- You will provide a possibility to integrate practical training and studies;
- You will provide the student with the working conditions complying with the standards of occupational safety, health and hygiene.
The students can complete several types of internships:
- Mandatory internship is included in the last year of studies of all the Bachelor’s study programmes. During the mandatory internship, a student-trainee deepens and practically applies the knowledge acquired during studies, develops his/her skills and abilities, conducts the research of professional activities and collects the data for his/her final degree project. Usually, the entire working day is used for an internship.
- Additional internship can be completed in the time free from studies (for example, after the lectures or during summer vacation); it can be completed by the students of any year of the Bachelor’s and Master’s studies.
- Research internship is intended for the acquisition and development of knowledge and research skills while conducting research; it is completed under the supervision of highly qualified researchers under an individual research programme.
The process of internship at the company:
- Selection of a student-trainee;
- Assignment of an internship supervisor (mentor) at the company;
- Signing of a tripartite agreement on practical training among the University’s representative, the student-trainee and the company’s representative;
- Participation in the coordination of an internship plan;
- Supervision of the activities of the student-trainee, its monitoring and assessment of the performance results.
Internship supervisor (mentor) at the company is important for a successful internship of a student; therefore, we expect him/her to:
- Participate in the making of an internship plan;
- Assign the works related to the company’s activities and complying with the objectives of the internship to the student-trainee;
- Consult and assist the student-trainee;
- Monitor and assess the activities and performance results of the student-trainee;
- Assess the performance of the internship (tasks) of the student-trainee by mark.
Internship through Erasmus+ programme

- Improvement of the involvement in the study programmes;
- Topics for the final degree and semester projects of the students that you consider relevant; the students can propose the solutions to your relevant problem (for example, product prototype, analysis of business or social problem and recommendations for its solution). The projects are usually prepared within 4 months; most of the final degree projects are prepared in February-May. The final degree project is usually prepared by one student, semester projects can be prepared by a team of students. The students are always consulted by the lecturers-experts of a respective area;
- Lectures for students in your chosen topic;
- Possibilities for students and lecturers to participate in the company’s events, visits to the company introducing the company’s activities;
- Outsourced works that students could perform in their free time;
- Other possible forms of cooperation between your company and the University.
